Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) was an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her first Broadway role, she was in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors both on screen and stage for all of her career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton directed the show. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first major character. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides her time between Los Angeles.
